Frederick Ilchman is Chair of the Art of Europe department at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. He is also the Chairman of Save Venice, an American non-profit dedicated to restoring art and architecture in Venice. With Robert Echols, Ilchman is co-curator of the upcoming exhibition Tintoretto: Artist of Renaissance Venice at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. A specialist in the art of the Italian Renaissance, Ilchman was lead curator for Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese: Rivals in Renaissance Venice (2009) at the MFA and the Louvre, and co-curator for Casanova’s Europe (2017-18) at the MFA, Kimbell, and Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.

This lecture is offered in conjunction with Tintoretto: Artist of Renaissance Venice, on view at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. from March 10 to July 7, 2019.
