Toilet Flange Height and Toilet Wax Ring Thickness

When you are replacing a wax ring, check the toilet flange height in relation to your flooring. If the toilet flange is above, even or up to 1/4 inch below the flooring, use a standard wax ring. If the toilet flange is lower than 1/4 inch below the flooring use an extra thick wax ring. If the toilet flange is lower than 1/2 inch below the floor, use a spacer on top of the flange to raise the height.
