Pokémon News hidden test data (Pokémon Crystal)

Описание: The Pokémon Crystal ROM (both the Japanese and localized versions) contains hidden data for testing the Pokémon News feature of the Mobile System GB.

1:11 “Trainer Rankings”: This News data simply shows rankings in three categories: number of Colosseum wins, Bug-Catching Contest high score, and largest caught Magikarp. No actual rankings are present in the ROM (they’d have to be downloaded from the Mobile System GB server), only the template for displaying them.

2:55 “Trainer Rankings” (bis): This issue contains rankings similar to the first, but it adds a Pokémon Cries Quiz in which you can guess which cry belongs to each of ten different Pokémon. The rankings have changed to track Battle Tower wins rather than Colosseum wins, and have one extra feature: if the player is ranked #1 in any category, they can receive the GS Ball and encounter Celebi.

7:43 “Pokémon News Debug Starting Issue”: Appears only in the Japanese ROM and contains the same rankings as the first “Trainer Rankings” data and the Cries Quiz from the second “Trainer Rankings” data, but also includes a “Message from Game Freak” intended for the game’s testers.

8:38 “Pokémon News First Issue”: This is the most polished News issue, and appears only in non-Japanese ROMs; its main feature is a “Pokémon Cult Quiz” with ten questions about obscure details of the adventure, scored by Professor Oak.
