Camino Francés Day 24–26 | Sahagún to León | Walking the Meseta

Описание: In Camino Francés Days 24 to 26, we walk across the Meseta from Sahagún to León, following traditional stages through El Burgo Ranero and Mansilla de las Mulas.

This stretch of the Camino is known for its wide-open landscapes, gentle elevation changes, and quiet rural towns. Walking it again gave us the chance to slow down and revisit places we remembered fondly from our 2023 Camino.

Along the way, we pass through Bercianos del Real Camino and return to Reliegos, where memories of an evening at the Elvis Bar and the plaque marking the 1947 meteorite fall made this walk feel layered with both history and personal meaning.

The journey ends in León, where we arrive at the magnificent León Cathedral, one of Spain’s finest Gothic cathedrals, renowned for its extraordinary stained glass and importance to pilgrims reaching the city. We also splurged on a stay at the historic Parador de León, a former pilgrim hospital and monastery that felt like a decadent place to rest after crossing the Meseta.

We’re walking this Camino at a slower pace, averaging just over 10 miles per day, and sharing what we notice along the way—from landscapes and history to returning moments that feel different the second time around.
