Want to start a shipping company in Nigeria? 🚢 Here’s a quick guide.
Step one: Register with CAC and set shipping as your primary business. Share capital must be at least ₦25 million for local firms, ₦100 million for foreign ones.
Step two: Register with NIMASA. Pay about ₦210,000, complete Form B1, and submit CAC documents, audited accounts, and a bank reference.
Step three: Register with NPA. Submit your company papers and tax clearance, pay ₦200,000, and renew yearly at ₦100,000.
Also register with SCUML for anti–money laundering, FIRS for tax and TIN, and NIMASA for vessel registration if you own ships.
Compliance gives you legal authority, access to big contracts, credibility with investors, and protection from penalties.
