The Bb Scale is often the first one trombone players and most band instrument players learn. It’s pretty easy for most of the band, but the trombone has a challenge in that the first note, the low Bb, is in 1st position, and the second note, the C, is in 6th position. Practice moving the slide as fast and as late as possible so that both notes sound good without a big space in between. (If you’re lucky enough to have an F-attachment, the C can be played in 1st with the trigger down.)
If your band director tells you to play the scale a different way, listen to your band director! This video is meant to be a reference for when you are practicing. Your teacher knows you personally and knows how to get you to play your best!
