Friedman test is a statistical test developed by Milton Friedman. It is a non-parametric test which is like parametric repeated measures ANOVA. This test is used to find the difference between the groups, if the dependent variable being measured is ordinal. It is an alternative to repeated measures ANOVA.
Friedman test is like Kruskal Wallis test. It is different from Kruskal Wallis test in terms of the calculation because Friedman test uses only the rank information of the given data.
Friedman test is used to test the difference between groups, if the dependent variable being measured is ordinal. It also tests the validity of null hypothesis of dependent data of the given identical population.
Assumptions
One group is measured on three or more occasions.
Random sampling method to select the group.
There should be one dependent variable which is ordinal, interval or ratio.
Samples need not to be normally distributed
Formulate and test the null hypothesis. In this, the equality of means of different treatments as in ANOVA is tested. The null hypothesis is stated as:
