As Mercedes gears up to fully electrify its lineup, it ensures that even its eco-friendly offerings have an undiluted touch of the AMG performance. Rooted in the blueprint of the newly launched Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, the AMG variant of this EV SUV emerges as the first of its kind to don the revered Affalterbach's performance badge. There's an air of exquisite opulence surrounding the SUV, from the embossed AMG emblems on the headrests to the aerodynamically designed front details for maximum driving performance and range.

When it comes to power, the 2024 Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 SUV does not disappoint. It boasts two electric motors placed on each axle, amassing a combined output of a stunning 617 horsepower and 701 pound-feet of torque. However, with the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package, the horsepower and torque are further amplified to 677 and 738 pound-feet, respectively. The driving modes further regulate power output according to driving needs, with Race Start mode unlocking the full 677 horsepower. The SUV, fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport EV M01 tires, claims a 0-60 mph sprint in just 3.4 seconds, which might even be a conservative estimate.

The SUV houses a 90.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and while the official EPA range estimates are still awaited, a rough estimate puts it around 250 miles per charge. Thanks to a 9.6 kW onboard charger, Mercedes asserts that 100 miles of range can be recharged in merely 15 minutes when hooked to a DC fast charging station, making it a practical choice for long journeys.

Inside, the AMG EQE SUV exudes a lavish aura with a five-seater cabin, which offers ample space for adults in both the front and back seats. Detailed touches like red topstitching on the instrument cluster and doors, AMG emblems embossed throughout, and an available MBUX Hyperscreen spanning from A-pillar to A-pillar add to the sense of opulence. The infotainment system includes a 12.8-inch touchscreen running Mercedes-Benz's MBUX software interface and provides standard features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and wireless smartphone charging.

In terms of safety, the EQE SUV offers a suite of driver-assistance features, including automated emergency braking and lane-keeping assist. More advanced features, such as adaptive cruise control with lane-centering, can be unlocked with the optional Driver Assistance package. In terms of warranty, Mercedes provides four years or 50,000 miles coverage for the car and powertrain and eight years or 100,000 miles for the electrical components.
