Episode 20 of Winging Montreal, we fly over Lac des Deux Montagnes to capture the latest progress on the new Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge.
Rising beside the original span, this major infrastructure project will replace the aging Autoroute 40 crossing between Senneville and Vaudreuil-Dorion — a vital link connecting Montreal’s West Island to Vaudreuil-Soulanges and beyond.
Designed with wider lanes, dedicated bus shoulders, and a multi-use pathway for pedestrians and cyclists, the new bridge reflects a modern approach to mobility and long-term resilience.
Construction began in 2023. The first segment is expected to open in 2026, with full completion continuing through 2028–2030.
From above, cranes, concrete, and water tell the story of transformation — a renewed gateway for travel, trade, and community in Quebec.
