Описание: This video is a demonstration of image processing of the Great Orion Nebula (M42) featuring a successful adjustment of star size/shape to fit more naturally to the image by Siril and GIMP.

To modify the size and shape of the stars, one should start by preparing two images. One of these should be a star-reduced version, created by using star-recomposition in Siril. The other should be a regularly processed version. After that, one can import both images into GIMP and blend the bright star's periphery to complete the processing.

I am particularly intrigued by the starless version of the Orion Nebula; it truly resembles an old European oil painting. I am also delighted with the outcome, considering that I managed to capture such a faint object amidst the heavy light pollution of Tokyo.

- - Deep Sky Objects - - -
Great Orion Nebula (M42, NGC 1976) is a diffusion nebula located at the constellation of Orion, 1344 light-year away from us (still within the Milky Way galaxy). It is an active star formation region with a plenty of star dusts and clouds. They show various color from red to blue due to the refection and emission of the star dusts caused by the approximate bright star light. Running Man Nebula (Sh2-279, NGC 1977) is a typical reflection nebula located right next to the Orion Nebula.
