In addition to West Coast Swing, there are several other styles of swing dance including East Coast Swing, Hustle, CarolinaShag, Jive, Lindy Hop and Country Swing Dancing. West Coast Swing Dance is also sometimes called "modern swing" and is constantly evolving. Our suggestion is to first learn how to dance west coast swing basic steps before learning a bunch of intermediate patterns. While the style may constantly change, the west coast swing basic steps are pretty consistent over time. Everything should start with the west coast swing basic steps first. For Anthony and Rose west coast swing is a dance that everyone should learn, but start with the WCS basic steps first.
