It can be easy to think that Jesus' passion and resurrection was a holistic means to salvation, which it was, but this does not negate the fact that Christ also died for us on a personal level. It is this multilayered nature of His sacrifice that allows us to grow closer to Him during the Lenten period, as we make sacrifices alongside Him.
