🎵 LYRICS: THE GREAT UNKNOWN
(Verse 1) Seventy-five, dust on my boots Leaving the shade of my father’s roots I look at Sarai, gray in her hair Fifty years praying, but nothing is there. No baby cries, just the wind in the door But You’re calling me out to something more. Yeah, You’re calling me out to something more.
(Pre-Chorus) You say I’m a "Nation"? Lord, I’m just a man. You say I’m a "Father"? I don’t see the plan. But the Voice is loud. And the heart is bowed.
(Chorus) So You say "Go" — I’m gonna go. Leaving behind the only world I know. It don’t make sense, it don’t rhyme Leaving it all at the finish line. But I’ll trade the map for a promise I can’t see. If You’re leading the way, that’s enough for me. Step by step. Stone by stone. Into the Great Unknown.
(Verse 2) The neighbors are watching us packing the tent Spending the strength that I’ve already spent. They look at my wife, and they look at my age "You can’t write a book on the very last page!" But You are the Author, and You hold the pen So I’m starting a journey that never will end.
(Bridge) I’m empty handed (Lord I believe You) I’m heavy hearted (But I receive You) The land is waiting (I’m moving on) The past is over (The fear is gone!)
(Outro) Just as You said... I’m gonna go.
📖 BIBLE STUDY: THE CALL OF ABRAM
Scripture Focus: Genesis 12:1–4
THE COMMAND: "LECH LECHA" In Hebrew, God’s command to Abram is "Lech Lecha," which literally translates to "Go to yourself" or "Go for your own benefit." God wasn’t punishing Abram by asking him to leave; He was freeing him to find his true purpose.
THE LOGIC GAP God promised to make Abram a "Great Nation," but there were two massive problems:
Age: Abram was 75 years old.
Barrenness: Sarai had been unable to conceive. Faith is not the absence of logic; it is trusting in a higher logic. Abram "went, as the LORD had told him" (Gen 12:4).
THE JOURNEY MAP Abram’s trek wasn’t a short walk. He traveled approx. 527 miles (850 km) from his home in Harran (modern Turkey) down to Shechem (West Bank). It was at Shechem that God finally appeared and said, "To your offspring I will give this land."
❓ QUESTION FOR REFLECTION: Abram left the "comfort of the known" for the "promise of the unknown." Is there an area in your life where God is asking you to "Go," but you are hesitating because you don't have a map?
