DIY - PUZZLE CUBES

Описание: This time last year, MakeAnything was experimenting with 3Dprinted puzzle cubes. And while I thought they were very cool, I didn't really think anything of them until I saw a wooden one, sitting in the waiting area of an Escape Room that I visited recently.

It was a fun little challenge, but what I was drawn to most by the puzzle, was its simple construction. 27 little cubes, glued together to form 5 pieces that when assembled, form a larger cube.

I purchased a bag of cubes from Michael's, which unfortunately were quite lacking in their overall cubeness, but they got the job done.

It's a really fun process, you just stack small cubes to form a larger one, 3x3, or 4x4 or 5x5 if you like torture, and then just start gluing cubes to other cubes. Make as many or as few pieces as you like. The puzzle may seem easy at first. And it might be, you might get lucky with the first few pieces... but step away from it for a moment, and you might end up having to watch video of your self-building it just to solve it again! ;)

There are so many opportunities to customize it, from the size, to the shape of the pieces, and the number of pieces, and you can decorate it anyway you want. Paint it, sharpie it, sticker it, stain it. Make your own cubes our of fancy exotic woods... or don't use wood at all!

[SPOILER] I made a second cube out of dice! I bought some cheap plastic dice from the dollar store, and made a puzzle cube from those. An arguably better puzzle then the wood one, as the dice, even being cheap ones from the dollar store, were far closer to perfect cubes than the blocks from Michael's. Using plastic solvent to glue the dice together worked really well, giving me a nice window to position them, getting them as flush and square as possible, resulting in a very tight larger cube when solved.

So find or make yourself some small cubes, get some glue and get ready for hours of fun, turning those small cubes into a larger cube!
