IKEA launched a long-term advocacy campaign “For a Safe Home” – uniting NGOs, politicians, experts, and private sector partners in a push for the first-ever Law on Domestic Violence in Czech history. The goal: legally define domestic violence, strengthen victim protection and ensure no one is left unprotected behind closed doors.
In 2024, the Czech government unanimously approved the draft law. It passed through both chambers without a single vote against and was signed by the President. From mid-2025, the Law on Domestic Violence came into effect — finally defining domestic violence and providing stronger protection to thousands each year.
