Описание: 1999 Kayak Kadavu home video with Melissa McCoy. Fiji Islands Part 2. Natokalau Village was our last stop on our 7 night kayak camping tour. We called this the Happy Smiley village as they loved to play guitar & sing. The only income they derived was from the kayak tours we brought by. Our paddlers would also bring school supplies. We'd arrive, set up camp, have a Sevu Sevu (kava ceremony and salutation to Chief Thomasi) . They only way to get to Natokalau village was by boat (no roads). A couple of the villagers had worked at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii so had an idea of how to make the costumes and put the 'shows' together. They provided a Lovo (earthen oven food) and Meke (dance & song). All of the food provided for us was either gathered on their island or fished from their seas. After the Fiji Coup of 2000 (Speight) and the tragedy of 9/11 in our country, visitors did not travel abroad and we no longer offered these trips. I returned in 2004 for a day visit. This is a VERY remote village in a part of Fiji that is known amongst Fijians to be 'the real Fiji'. I found this old movie on a CD that had been transferred from a video camera. It took about 12 hours to load to youtube! This is part 2. Part 1 is more beach, ocean and about our guests. Let's see what Part 3 will bring.
