ACT Math Tips: How to tackle matrices on the ACT

Welcome to another edition of Tuesday ACT! In this video, Magoosh's ACT expert Kristin Fracchia explains why matrices on the ACT math section are not quite as scary as they might initially seem. In fact, for ACT math, you'll only need to know the very basics of matrices. Also know that you aren’t going to come across many matrix problems on the ACT. You might see one or two - but most often, there aren't any on the test. That's good news! But if you want a top ACT math score, it's good to know how matrices work!

In this video, we'll go over how matrices work. We'll explain that matrices are referred to by the their dimensions: for example, a 3 x 2 matrix has 3 rows and 2 columns. Then we'll discuss scalar multiplication, matrix addition, and how matrices are multiplied.
