In this video, I show you how I chain-stitched a simple, bold flower onto a pieced quilt block using hand embroidery.
This design is stitched in a 6-inch hoop, but it can easily be scaled up or down to fit your project. I share how I transferred the pattern onto darker fabric using paper stencils and a Frixion erasable pen.
For thread, I used DMC 90 variegated floss in shades of yellow and stitched with all six strands to create a bold, simple statement. I love how this quick embroidery design pairs with a more complex patchwork background—it’s a beautiful way to combine quilting and hand embroidery.
