it’s a small, extremely convenient excuse, but one that takes you to your neighbor’s door no less: a simple request for a spoonful of sugar to save a batch of cookies that’s doomed otherwise. against your original plans, though, you both linger for far longer, moving from small talk in the doorway to life stories in the living room, finding that mutual loneliness has a way of disguising itself with practical excuses. with no real reason to rush back home, you two form an unexpectedly cozy bond - maybe the cookies can wait for a night.
