Headstart: The House Committee on Justice is set to deliberate on the impeachment complaints filed against VP Sara Duterte on Monday, March 2. This includes the first complaint endorsed by the Makabayan bloc, which constitutes cases of betrayal of public trust over the alleged misuse of confidential funds, culpable violations of the Constitution, bribery, graft and corruption, and high crimes.
According to ACT Teachers Partylist Rep. Antonio Tinio, the committee is expected to first discuss if the complaints are sufficient in form; the sufficiency in substance will most probably be deliberated during the following session.
Rep. Tinio noted that there is new and strong evidence, including the affidavit issued by Ramil Madriaga that surfaced in late 2025. This document contains testimony regarding the distribution of funds in December 2022, which is directly related to the use of the confidential funds flagged by the Commission on Audit (COA), where the OVP spent its ₱125 million allocation for the fourth quarter of 2022 in just 11 days.
