Ask more questions during a whiteboard challenge! ☝️
Many designers assume that they understand the problem and jump straight into sketching out solutions. It is a huge red flag 🚩
The purpose of the prompt that the team prepared for you is to start the conversation, not to be the only source of information available for you to come up with a solution.
Tere are some questions you can ask:
👉 Who is the target audience?
👉 What is the business problem we are trying to solve?
👉 Why solving this problem is a priority right now?
👉 How is this problem currently being solved?
👉 Are users happy with the current solution? Why / why not?
👉 How do we know it is a problem? What does the research say so far?
👉 How does this solution fit into the product?
👉 What are the constraints we are working with?
Asking questions demonstrates your analytical thinking and ensures you have a good understanding of the problem.
