Описание: recorded by a dear friend, this was life-changing for me: my first live concert in nearly 4 years away from music, and my first time really singing for anyone besides myself. the five of us had just met earlier that week, three of us without previous experience with Arabic music/ language; and we had less than 5 days and 4 short rehearsals to learn this classic, improvise on it, and perform on-stage. having spent much of my life discouraged from singing and playing anything beyond European classical piano, it felt at once terrifying, yet remarkably safe, thrilling, and humbling, special and deeply touching, to get to share this experience, and the stage, with these generous souls. I do not believe I could have opened up in this way with anyone else, truly. and so, my deepest gratitude to my beautiful friends—these incredible musicians—performing with me, and supporting us in the audience; to Mike Block, who led us here, and most of all, to dear Abeer, who unlocked a door deep inside of me that I didn't know was there.
