This was my first (from what I can remember) visit to Walberswick beach on the Suffolk Coast. We've often visited its neighbours, Southwold and Sizewell, but never ventured into the village of Walberswick. Well, glad we finally did, it's very lovely. The village of Walberswick is Georgian and is a very pretty typical seaside location, with its long stretch of sand and shingle beach and grassy dunes where you can find numerous pathways across the marsh and heathland. You can also enjoy the nature reserve which covers over 1,000 acres of meadows, marsh and mudflats while following the River Blyth. Our visit was after the two big storms that had swept across the Uk, so we didn't venture too far out due to it being so very muddy and unbelievably windy! but what we did see was just stunning - a definite return visit will be had in the spring/summer months. Walberswick is famous for its crabbing interest, and every year it hosts the annual British open crabbing championship - so check before you visit if you're hoping for a quite day at the seaside as it does get very busy. There are pay and display car parks and places to eat in the village. The ferry across the harbour to Southwold is also very popular and not overly priced (it is only a small boat so be prepared for a choppy crossing if the current is strong) If you don't fancy the ferry, there is a short walk along the harbour to a bridge, from here you can enjoy beautiful views. We really enjoyed our visit, albeit being extremely windy... the sun was shining which added to the stunning views across the beach and the marshes. I'm looking forward to making a return visit this year.
I really hope you have enjoyed watching this video. Please do give me a thumbs up, drop me a comment and subscribe to be sure to catch more of our walks in and around Norfolk and Suffolk - not forgetting, our holiday adventures in the UK.
Thanks for watching, Jenny x
