The Saitek Centurion was and still is the best value for money chess computer.Retailing at 99€ there was no better package, when it was released back in 1998 and still today you can't go wrong, if you pick it up for around 40€ used.
It boasts a lot of features:
Coach and Study positions for estimating your ELO strength
Various game modes, including Blitz and adaptive strength (!)
Vast analysis functions, e.g. four main variants
A playing strength of around 2000 ELO
P.S.: It was recycled a couple of times as Admiral and Chess Challenger. All derived from 1993s GK 2100. In the US, the RadioShack Champion 2250XL was a derivative of the GK 2100.
