Norther Lapwing calls recorded in late summer. The Northern Lapwing is a wader or shorebird. In some areas it’s called the ‘Peewit’ after the sound of its display call.
The Lapwings here were filmed in August and are in the middle of their post-breeding season moult which takes place from May/June to September/October. During the moult, most of the bird’s plumage is replaced, which is why some individuals appear scruffy or patchy compared to their breeding plumage.
