CORRYVILLE, Ohio (WKRC) - The county coroner hopes a sketch of woman whose body was found decomposing in a shallow grave in Avondale will lead to her identification.
The woman's body was found May 31 by some children who were playing near a playground at an apartment complex on Glenwood Avenue.
"My son had noticed something in the brush and he had mentioned it to his uncle like, 'There's a guy laying down over there.' And he said, 'No that can't be right,'" said Satin Riggins, the boy's mother.
An examination by the Hamilton County Coroner's Office found the woman had been dead for three to four weeks. She was buried in a mulch bed and it had rained heavily the night before, which may have led to the body being exposed.
"Partially wrapped in some type of cloth with a flower of some type laid upon the chest of the body," said the coroner's investigator, Daryl Zornes.
No one has come forward to claim the body and her description does not match any local reports of missing people.
"Somebody missed her at some point. Somebody misses her now, maybe, but we don't know who she is to tell the family," said Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco.
Dr. Sammarco said she was wearing some jewelry and she had on a shirt marked "Smoky Mountain Moonshine."
"We don't feel there was any foul play. We do think that this was, whether it was accidental or natural, we don't think it's homicide," Dr. Sammarco said.
She added that the woman is believed to be Caucasian or biracial. She stood between 5-feet-5-inches and 5-feet-8-inches and wore gray, silky pajama bottoms and a gray tank top. The name "Schrader" was written on a tag inside her pajamas.
"Maybe she left home a long time ago and nobody knew where she was anymore. Maybe she had some mental illness. Maybe the family just lost touch. Maybe she was homeless," Dr. Sammarco wondered.
The coroner hopes someone may recognize the sketch of the woman to provide the answers she and her family deserve.
Anyone with information about the woman's identity can call the Hamilton County Coroner's Office at 513-946-8700.
