WALKING AID Review: Which One Is Right For You? | Aleks Physio

In this video I summarize and review 8 different walking aids (gait aids) that we use with our patients at the hospital (rollator walker, 2-wheeled walker, standard walker, cane, 4 point cane, hemi walker, platform walker and alpha walker).

The type of gait aid most appropriate for you depends on a variety of factors, such as the surgery you had, weight bearing restrictions, past medical history, cost and history of falls.

Set up for most of these pieces of equipment is similar in terms of you want the handle height to be at the level of your wrist crease when standing with your arms by your side.

There is a lot more detail that can be delved within each gait aid use, however, I tried to simplify and provide the key points, by getting right into the discussion.

There are a few more that I did not go over (walking poles, forearm crutches, crutches, knee scooter). However, if you do have any questions about these, feel free to leave them down in the comments section below.
