Hi friends, Bengali style fish curry is a delicate yet delicious fish curry that truly packs a punch. Various households in Bengal prepare this Bengali fish curry almost on a daily basis. The Bengali's love their fish and it is a part of their daily diet. The preparation uses fresh water fish like Rohu, Catla, Betki and the most popular Hilsa. The preparation of Bengali style fish curry mainly uses the combination of five spices popularly known as Paanch Phoron. Fenugreek, onion seeds fennel seeds, mustard seeds and cumin seeds collectively form the Paanch Phoron. Fresh curd is also used in many Bengali recipes.

INGREDIENTS
Rohu Fish 500gms
Onion paste of 2 onions
Ginger Garlic paste 1 tbsp
Tomato puree 2 Tomatoes
Bay leaf 2
Green cardamom 3
Paanch Phoron 1 1/2 tsp
(cumin, fennel, mustard, onion seeds and Fenugreek seeds)
Salt as per taste
Red chilli powder 2 tsp
Turmeric 1/2 tsp
coriander powder 1 tbsp(optional)
Curd 1/2 cup
Mustard oil 2 tbsp
For Marination
Salt 1/2 tsp
Turmeric 1/2 tsp
Mustard oil to saute fish.
