My method for making coasters might be a little different from other tutorials you may have seen. I make them this way because I feel like the fabric lays better and you get nice, sharp corners.

For this project, you will need:
Charm pack quilt fabric (or other quilt fabric cut to 5" squares): https://amzn.to/3Dv3tTu - these are just a few options
Insul-Bright batting cut to 4" squares: https://amzn.to/3ZHzpvH (you can use any batting but this is great for coasters)
Fabric adhesive like Odif 505: https://amzn.to/3Pju74N
Sewing basics like thread, scissors, iron, and pins

How to Make Coasters:
Lay 2 pieces of 5" square fabric right-sides-together.
Sew around the squares with a 1/4" seam allowance, leaving a 2" gap on one of the sides.
Cut a 4" square piece of batting.
Use Odif 505 fabric adhesive to attach the batting to the center of the coaster. Press to ensure it stays in place. It doesn't have to be perfect because it won't move once the coaster is turned.
Turn the coaster right-side-out. Make sure the batting is laying flat.
Use a tool to poke the corners from the inside so they are nice and sharp. Avoid using anything too pointy or it may poke through the fabric and create a hole.
Press the coaster with an iron. Be sure to press the opening in a nice straight line.
Stitch a narrow seam around the outside of the coaster. You want to make sure you're close enough to the edge that your stitching catches the opening and secures it in place.
