Last night, while parking up using levelling ramps at a quiet park-up near Enniskillen, I made a mistake I genuinely didn’t think I’d ever make. I went too far up the ramp. Over the edge. And because I was parked too close to a small wall, I clipped it hard.

The result?
A cracked rear panel, a smashed rear light cluster, and a very expensive lesson learned.

This didn’t happen because of snow. The snow came after and just made us think twice about leaving. The damage was entirely down to my judgement, or lack of it. I knew there was a possibility it could happen. I ignored that little voice. Murphy’s Law did the rest.

We were meant to head out tonight to continue the Northern Ireland Game of Thrones Journey of Doors. The plan was to visit Blakes of the Hollow and finally get the House of Targaryen door stamp for the passport we started in Mary McBride’s. That’s now on hold, but we’ll be back later in the year.

This isn’t a how-to. It’s not advice. It’s just an honest look at a mistake that can happen when you get too comfortable and assume “it’ll be fine”.

If this saves even one person from doing the same thing, then at least something good comes from it.
