India urges united action on energy security for SIDS

Описание: On the sidelines of COP 30 in Belém, Brazil, India called for unified global action on energy security for small island developing states. Union Minister Bhupender Yadav highlighted India’s achievements in renewable energy, noting that the country has crossed 500 GW of installed electricity capacity, with over half from clean energy, and 50% non-fossil energy capacity, reaching its NDC target five years early. He emphasized solar power as a transformative tool, with over 20 lakh households adopting rooftop solar. Yadav also participated in the 11th Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) meeting with Japan, and held bilateral discussions with EU and German climate ministers, reaffirming India’s commitment to cooperative, technology-driven climate action and sustainable development.
