Supported Internships - An Intern's Experience

Описание: Hampshire County Council’s SEND Employability Team, in collaboration with Portsmouth City Council and Southampton City Council, is proud to announce the release of three video case studies showcasing the impact of Supported Internships and the benefits they bring to young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and employers across Hampshire. This initiative is part of the national Internships Work Programme.

About Supported Internships:
Supported internships are a vital bridge for young individuals with SEND, providing them with real world work experiences, skills development, and the confidence to pursue meaningful careers. Whilst employers gain from this previously untapped pool of talent who bring a wealth of benefits to their organisation.

The Video Case Studies:
In these newly released videos, viewers will gain insights from four key perspectives following the journey from starting the course to successful outcomes:

Education Providers
Hear directly from the education providers who discuss the support they provide to learners and employers which includes providing a job matching service, on the job support for the learner and on-going support for employers for the duration of the placement.

Employers
Listen to employers discussing the benefits of providing Supported Internship placement and the positive impact on their teams and businesses.

Parents/carers
The parents and carers share how they have watched their young person grow from strength to strength and develop the independent skills needed to find meaningful paid employment.

Learners
Our wonderful Supported Interns tell us first-hand about their journeys, challenges overcome, personal growth and positive outcomes, including paid employment.
