Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) on a linear motor testing machine can be used to determine the viscoelastic behavior of elastomers.
The load can vary in frequency, temperature and amplitude. These sweeps can be easily defined in the testXpert Research test program. The test software can determine the following results from the resulting strain and stress values:
• Loss factor tan δ
• E* dynamic modulus
• E' storage modulus
• E'' loss modulus
• Available energy
• Energy loss
• k* dynamic stiffness
• k' elastic stiffness
• k'' viscose stiffness
These parameters provide information about the viscoelastic behavior of the material. The results of the DMA help to evaluate the fatigue resistance and service life of elastomers under dynamic conditions.
