Briefing the Security Council yesterdary (2 Apr) on the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), the High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, Izumi Nakamitsu, said the post-Cold War disarmament and arms control framework “is eroding,” and as a result, “the prospect of the use of nuclear weapons is higher than it has been in generations.”
