QD OLED Sweet Spot - Gigabyte MO32U (4K 165Hz Review)
I just finished reviewing the Gigabyte M032U2, a 32-inch 4K QD-OLED monitor with a 165Hz refresh rate, making it one of the most affordable 4K OLED gaming displays at around $789 with a three-year burn-in warranty. As The Display Guy, I tested it with Portrait Displays CalMAN and found surprisingly strong color accuracy in both SDR and HDR, with minor issues like raised shadow detail in SDR and crushed blacks in HDR. While it can’t match the brightness of TVs like the LG G5 and struggles a bit in bright rooms, the glossy finish, per-pixel dimming, and fast motion response absolutely destroy LCD and mini-LED alternatives, giving phenomenal clarity and contrast. Gaming at 165Hz feels like a sweet spot for 4K performance, delivering low latency and great motion clarity without demanding extreme hardware. Yes, it lacks DisplayPort 2.1, HDR highlights sometimes blow out, and text clarity shows a little fringing due to the QD-OLED subpixel layout, but overall this glossy 4K OLED gaming monitor is highly recommended and earns an 8 out of 10 for its balance of value, speed, and image quality.
