EDF 6 M147 Let's Burn the Minions of Flying Snake Final Boss run Inferno AR ( Earth Defense Force 6)

Описание: The EDF 6 final mission seems daunting but it's not that hard. Just long as hell. The snake is impressive, and even more amazing is that Sandlot managed to get it to work along with a ton of complex enemies at the same time. It does overshadow EDF 5's last mission by a mile. The Air Raider does shine in some parts of this mission, and it's the ONLY class that can face head-on the waves of minions.

There are several ways to do this mission. I think this is a good one, as you're more aggressive in dealing with enemies and that's more fun than a conservative approach of running away from them and dealing with them from a distance.

The honorable Red Guard works really well here. With it, you can deal aggressively with the 4 waves of enemies that the boss will spawn. No other vehicle can do this, I've tried all other viable options and they don't work. Like in EDF 5 last mission, there's the problem that the mission does not generate many points. It's not as bad as in 5 but it still is difficult. If you don't have the Red Guard very upgraded you'll likely need to farm Type 3 drones and androids to get more Nyxes before proceeding to the next wave.

The snake boss has 3 phases:
first beam ray attack, with damaging spikes, and later 4 spawners of type 3 drones
second meteor attack, with damaging spikes, and later 4 spawners of androids and once later Cyclops
third meteor attack and multiple ray attack, with the remaining damaging spikes and spawners from the second phase
You advance each phase by dealing damage to the yellow block in the snake's first segment during the first phase, and later by hitting the snake's head. It's a bad idea to advance multiple phases before dealing with the waves that the boss drops.

The boss will drop 4 waves:
first colonists after the transition to the second phase of the boss
after, Krulls
next, cosmos and heavy cosmos, after the transition to the third phase of the boss
Cyclops but these won't spawn if you have destroyed the snake's spawners generated after its second phase
last Krakens
You should have a fresh Red Guard ready to use before triggering one of these waves, as it's probable yours will be nearly trashed before you're able to deal with all the enemies spawned. When there are few enemies from these waves the meteor attacks usually show up too.

The meteor attacks are a PITA to avoid and ultimately there's not much you can do to avoid them all. Just try to jump around in the Nyx so that you and the NPCs avoid most of them. Keep picking health crates to feed NPCs, this is crucial.

The snake boss goes to huge heights and the only viable weapons the AR has to hit it are the Limpet Sniper and the N1β silent copter [sniper rifle] (E2β stun copter would even be more stupid than N1). I do hate limpets so my choice was the N1, but it's a royal PITA to use due to how slow the beacon is and the drone speed.
105mm Rapid-fire Gun Z and Sprite Fall Power Mode also work nicely.
However these weapons are lousy during the first phase and you need to build enough points to get a vehicle before proceeding, so be prepared for a really boring start.

You and NPCs are much more likely to be hit by meteors if you're traveling along the map borders than if staying in the middle of the map.

Shields are not useful here and the best backpack item is a Guard Post to lower the enemy's damage. Sadly these are crappy to install on Nyxes.

NPCs have invincibility ability, but like on 146, this does not always work when it should. Anyway, they're essential to your mission success, so keep mainly the Fencers and WDs happy (read well fed).

I do try to limit my armor to 1k on all missions, but on these very messy ones, it's really hard to do them with just that. Even just exiting the Nyx and you can die instantly even with 2k armor. The bigger meteors do 1.5k or 1.6k damage each, and the medium ones don't do much less, so you'll be one-shot by them with less than that anyway.
Although the meteors are a nice idea, as they were already in 5, dealing with them for over an hour does get annoying.
Last, I hate to do missions very conservatively and prefer a more hands-on approach which isn't very compatible with very low armor. It's much more fun anyway to take some risks.

Ultimately there are 2 faces on this mission: the giant bore that is dealing with the snake parts with AR's "sniping" weapons and the fantastic felling of dealing with the 4 special spawns head -on.
