The sambalpuri weave is a bandha or ikat yarn tie dye textile of Odisha which is most popular for its culturally significant motifs inspired by the locals. These sarees are producted in Western Odisha at Sambalpur, Bargarh, Barpali, Sonepur, Boudh. Each motif is designed symbolically derived from mythology, the coastal environment and the contexts of marriage and worship that is strongly believed in this part of the country. You can pick out your favorites from conch shell, fish, deer, butterfly, elephant, stars and many more iconic motifs beautifully woven on each of these sarees.
