A good long hike out where people settled and lived hundreds of years ago. These are the ruins of colonial America and make for some great exploring. This part of NH was settled back in the mid 1700s and the colonists cut their farms out of the rough landscape , clearing the land and building miles of rock walls. On this trip we find some of the largest piles of field stones I have ever seen as well as some beautiful rock walls. At the end of a long day exploring I swung my Fisher F19 metal detector around a cellar hole to see what I could find, The Old root cellars were under the houses for storage and essentially served as a foundation as well. Great New England history hike right here.
