Описание: Hello everyone, I’m youth reporter Hongsheng from the Youth Reporter Corps.We are here at Cary Hall in Lexington for the North American premiere of the original choral suite “Rivers, Lakes, and Seas — Spring Tide of Bohai.”Let’s go inside and feel the music!

This original choral suite was composed by Chinese composer Li Huatian. “Spring Tide of Bohai” is considered one of the very few major contemporary Chinese choral suites of the last century. The work weaves together adult choir, solo voices, and children’s voices — painting images of rivers, oceans, fishing boats, and Tianjin’s cultural memory.


After the pandemic interruption, this piece was revived in Boston through more than six months of preparation. The team worked through copyright, rehearsal schedules, and coordination challenges — not for commercial return, but because they believed this work deserved to be heard.


A choral suite is not like a single song — it is more like a full drama with emotional transitions. The performers must switch vocal colors, emotions, and interpretations across many movements. This level of artistic challenge makes tonight’s premiere especially meaningful.

This has been a music journey from China to the world.
