The first commercial recording of a Schubert Sonata in the USSR, made in 1956.

Sonata No.17 in D major, D.850 (op. 53), composed in August 1825 when Schubert was on a holiday in Gastein; dedicated to the well known pianist Karl Maria von Bocklet.
A year later in 1826 when Schubert was 29 years old, it became only the second of his piano sonatas to be published under the name "Seconde Grande Sonate".
Schubert died in 1828 at 31 years of age, having only three of his piano sonatas published in his lifetime.
