Here's all you need to know about the plea of allocutus in Nigeria. In Francis v FRN (2021), the Supreme Court held that it is wrong for a lawyer to make allocutus on behalf of the defendant. This contravenes s20 of the RPC which prohibits a lawyer from standing as witness for his client.
