Melting metals, it turns out, is best suited to winter—my favourite season—if only because I’ve just blown back in from holiday and misplaced every scrap of ambition along the way. The weather is a proper brute: somewhere between zero and ten below, snow piled high everywhere you care to look, as of the moment this is being put to paper.
I’ve a pressing need for zinc bars, you see, but the elements have other ideas, and they’re not keen on letting a fellow get on with his work. Still, all was not lost. I managed a bit of skip-diving and some honest scrapping, clearing the workshop to make room for—well—more rubbish. Threw in a dash of W-waste recovery for good measure, just to keep things sporting.
Behind the daily grind, bigger episodes are quietly taking shape, the sort of thing that makes the cold fingers worthwhile, and I’m keen to let you in on them when the time comes.
