After you determine that the windshield washer pump needs replacing you need to locate it. Most car repair books, such as Haynes, leaves this out which is problematic. I researched YouTube and located a very poorly done video however it did hint at where the windshield pump is located.

I purchased a replacement windshield washer pump from Autozone because of their lifetime warranty and proximity to my home. The windshield washer pump also required the purchase of the grommet. This I also purchased from Autozone.

The location of the windshield washer pump in the 20009 Jeep Wrangler is behind the ECM which is mounted on the back side of the windshield washer reservoir. It was hidden by 5 or 6 plugs going into the ECM.
I found the windshield washer pump and needed to unplug an ECM plug and zip tie it away from my windshield washer pump access area. The windshield washer pump has an electric plug going into it which needs to be carefully removed.

After removing the plug, the windshield washer pump removes easily by slightly wiggling it then pulling up on it. On my Jeep there are two hoses attached for distributing the washer fluid: One for the rear and the other for the front. Remove both hoses.

Be sure to purchase the BMW part identified in the video as a replacement for the grommet from Autozone because this BMW part works much better. So, reach out to BMW first to get this grommet. I have a BMW dealership 20 minutes from my home, so this was very easy.
Attach the grommet to the inlet tube on the bottom of the windshield washer pump.

Attach both feeder hoses (one for rear window and the other for the windshield) to the outlet tubes on the windshield washer pump.
Insert the windshield washer pump into the opening in the windshield washer reservoir. It will be a snug fit which is a good thing because you want the grommet to do what is intended on doing, which is sealing the unit.

Locate the plug you unplugged.

Plug in the ECM plug you disconnected back into the ECM

Start the engine and push the spray lever and you now have a working windshield washer pump.
