How to Stop Google's Phone App from Rotating into Landscape Mode?

A while back, Google updated its Phone application and gave it a landscape mode.
But there are a lot of folks who never asked for this update. . .and don't want the orientation of their phone application to change at all.

I'm happy to say that the folk in Mountain View have rolled out a new update that finally lets us disable this feature.



Keep Portrait Mode Active
You can find it by switching to the Home or Voicemail tabs
And then tapping on the hamburger menu icon in the top left corner.

From here, we can dive into the Settings of the Google Phone app
And now you're going to look for the Display Options entry within the General section

This is where you will find the new toggle for Keeping Portrait Mode active while you're on a phone call.

We started seeing this toggle in version 202 of the beta for the Google Phone app
But it was removed before being added back in version 205 of the beta.

So if you're not seeing this toggle and you want it right now.
Know that you can sideload this beta version of the app and you'll see the toggle after the phone has been restarted.
