Significance of CADD in Drug Discovery and Development

In silico Drug Discovery Process Consists of 3 Stages:
Stage 1:  Identification of therapeutic target and generation of small compounds library for the testing and screening against the target molecule.

Stage 2: Interaction testing of selected hits by docking at the binding sites.

Stage 3: Subjection of selected compounds to pharmacokinetic studies and the compound that passes the pharmacokinetic parameters is used as a lead compound.

Pharmacodynamics is defined as the response of the body to the drug. It refers to the relationship between drug concentration at the site of action and any resulting effects namely, the intensity and time course of the effect and adverse effects.

Pharmacokinetics, derived from the Greek words pharmakon (drug) and kinetikos (movement), is used to describe the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of a compound. It describes how the concentration of a dosed drug and its metabolites in body fluids and tissues changes with time.
