On Overdose Awareness Day, we share Adam’s story — a journey through addiction, PTSD and depression that led to healing, faith and hope.
“I couldn’t even have money in my bank account because I would go to the pub or the Bottle-O... I was drinking in the mornings.”
After years of struggling in silence, Adam reached a breaking point — and someone reached out.
A boss who took him to AA. A friend who brought him to church. A community that welcomed him just as he was.
“Walking close to the Lord has helped me use my heart more... there is enough healing and glory for everyone because that is how it is written.”
Now part of the Tuncurry/Forster Salvation Army, Adam continues to walk forward — with his faith, with hope, and with a new relationship with his kids.
“My littlest boy looked at me in a way that he had never looked at me before in his whole life.”
