GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - For nearly four hours after committing the biggest mass murder in Grand Rapids history, Rodrick Dantzler rode around town with a long-time friend -- drinking alcohol and, eventually, talking about why.
That friend, Willie Cunningham, whose white SUV later became Dantzler's getaway car, helped police fill in some of the gaps the day of the murders.
Cunningham told Target 8 that Dantzler -- a friend since they were both 8 years old -- called him about 3 p.m. on July 7. He told him he'd been in a fight and needed a ride, Cunningham said.
Police say they believe Cunningham spent three hours with Dantzler that day and that they don't suspect Cunningham of wrong-doing.
