How does political life interact with technologisation. Yes, technology placed at the service of political community is good, even indispensable, but the technological spirit can also displace or even corrupt political life. Is that what we are seeing with EU technocracy?

STEFAN AUER is Professor of European Studies at the University of Hong Kong. Prof. Auer was twice awarded the title of Jean Monnet Chair in EU Studies. He has published an award-winning monograph, Liberal Nationalism in Central Europe (London: Routledge 2004), and articles in Government and Opposition; International Affairs; the Journal of Common Market Studies; Osteuropa; and West European Politics, among others. His most recent book is European Disunion: Democracy, Sovereignty and the Politics of Emergency (London: Hurst, 2022).

ALEX PRIOU is Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Austin. Prof. Priou received a Ph.D. and M.A. in Philosophy from Tulane University, an M.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College, and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Connecticut. Priou is the author of three books on Plato: Becoming Socrates: Political Philosophy in Plato’s Parmenides (2018), Defending Socrates: Political Philosophy Before the Tribunal of Science (2023), and Musings on Plato’s 'Symposium' (2023).
