Ebb & Flow (SMT PS2 Rock Remix) | Splatoon 2

Описание: This is a cover of Ebb & Flow and Ebb & Flow (Octo) by Toru Minegishi from Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion. I have remade the track in the style of Shoji Meguro's rock battle tracks around the PS2 era of Shin Megami Tensei and Persona games, as if Splatoon 2 released on the PS2 in the mid to late 2000s.

This was an interesting track to try and cover! Teddie asked for both versions to be included, so I wanted to ensure that they sounded distinct while also belonging in the same mix. The standard version of the song wasn't too hard to translate as it is a pretty simple composition to begin with. I wanted to keep the guitars at the forefront throughout the mix, with both Pearl and Marina's vocals over the top. Teddie also suggested a guitar solo to be included, so I've put that in towards the end of the standard version. The Octo version was quite a bit more work in comparison. I wanted to keep the super compressed drums from the original, but make them acoustic instead of electric. Trying to balance out the mix on top of the vocal extraction was somewhat tough, but I feel it turned out okay in the end.

I have some pretty fond memories of Splatfests in Splatoon 2 and have loved this song ever since that World Premiere Demo back in July 2017. The Octo Expansion version is even better alongside it's set piece, really raises the stakes for the final encounter. Also as a small side note, this is being uploaded on the game's 7 year (eugh) anniversary.

I hope you enjoy this one! It's a little out of left field compared to the usual stuff I upload, but it's a great track and I desperately want to diversify in both material and genre anyways.
