Piet Veerman (Volendam, 1 March 1943) is a Dutch singer, guitarist and composer. He rose to fame in 1964 as the lead singer and guitarist for The Cats. Thanks to his defining voice he played an important part in the formation of the eel sound. From 1985 he continued with a solo career. He received more than thirty gold records.
In 1987 he released the song "Sailin' Home".
The single reached the number 1 position where it remained for four weeks. His single also became number 1 in Belgium and number 4 in Austria. It was the best-selling single in the Netherlands that year and achieved platinum status, as well as his first album in a long time, called Piet Veerman. Since the Top 2000 started in 1999, "Sailin' home" has been on the list almost every year.
In 2002 Veerman, Jantje Smit and George Baker recorded a German-language album called Die goldenen Stimmen.
